Professional Care Treatments for Patients
Wisdom Teeth Removal

Teenagers and young adults often have issues with wisdom teeth as they grow in. For many people, wisdom teeth may come in sideways, press against other teeth, or not fully erupt. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause significant pain and dental damage. That’s why you need trained professionals like Norris Dental to remove your wisdom teeth and restore your pain-free oral health. Our team can pull wisdom teeth that have erupted, as well as surgically remove those that are impacted in the gums. Depending on the condition of your wisdom teeth, we may use local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, or intravenous anesthesia during the procedure to make you more comfortable. Following your removal, you’ll need to eat only soft foods for about a week. Be sure to avoid crunchy, chewy, and spicy foods during this time. Though you’ll start to feel better in a few days, it can take a couple weeks or more for the mouth to completely heal after removal. Learn a bit more about wisdom teeth and how our family dentistry practice can help:

  • Impacted Wisdom Teeth – Most people have room for about 28 teeth. Wisdom teeth are also known as your third molars, and they’re the last teeth to grow in. They typically grow in between the ages of 17 to 25. Wisdom teeth serve no purpose. They often fail to come through in proper alignment or to completely emerge through the gum line. This causes wisdom teeth to become trapped between the jawbone and the gumline. It’s important to have wisdom teeth removed if they cause pain, and it can also be necessary to have them removed if they don’t.
  • Symptoms of Impacted Wisdom Teeth – Impacted wisdom teeth often don’t go unnoticed. The two main symptoms of impacted wisdom teeth are swelling and infection, as well as pain. Sometimes impacted wisdom teeth can damage nearby gums as well as teeth and bone. The longer a wisdom tooth causes pain, the more likely it is to be infected. Oral infections can negatively impact your overall health. It’s essential to visit Norris Dental at the first sign of tooth pain, whether it’s coming from wisdom teeth or anything else.
  • Types of Impaction – Dr. Norris will start by taking x-rays before your wisdom tooth is removed. There are four categories of wisdom teeth. Full-bony impacted wisdom teeth are the most difficult to remove because the tooth is totally stuck in the jaw. Partial-bony impacted wisdom teeth are partially stuck in the jaw. Soft-tissue impacted wisdom teeth are easier to remove because the tooth is located just under the gum. The easiest type of wisdom tooth to remove is an erupted wisdom tooth that has already appeared in the mouth.
Dentures

If you’ve lost several teeth or the entirety of your upper or lower arch, partial and complete dentures effectively replace them to give you back your bite and appearance. Complete dentures are comprised of an acrylic base that sits on your gums, holding your realistic artificial teeth in place. Partial dentures include a base with artificial teeth that attach to the adjacent natural teeth. For a secure fit, we also offer implant-supported dentures.

Teeth Whitening

No store-bought teeth whitening kit can compare to the brilliant results of in-office professional teeth whitening. In as little as just one visit, our team safely brightens your teeth to the shade of your choice. We also sell whitening trays and kits for you to take home and enhance the appearance of your smile.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

When a cavity strikes, you don’t have to worry about unsightly metal fillings standing out in your smile. After removing the damaged tissue and cleaning the cavity site, Norris Dental fills the space with a tooth-colored composite material that restores the surface and blends with the rest of your mouth.

Root Canals

An infection in your tooth’s root canal and soft tissue jeopardizes the well-being of the tooth. If left untreated, it can result in tissue loss, an abscess, and other serious consequences. Our team cleans out the infected tissue and seals your tooth to prevent any further issues. Root canal therapy relieves your pain and discomfort and saves the tooth.
