Using CEREC at Our Clinic

Getting your restorations taken care of in one visit is a specialty of Kevin L. Norris, D.M.D.. We know your time is precious and shouldn’t be wasted on lengthy dental processes to restore your teeth. That’s why our South Ogden, UT practice uses Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) technology to produce crowns for patients without having to use temporary crowns and wait for weeks like conventional methods. CEREC is an onsite dental technology that allows us to complete the production process very quickly and place your crown on a prepared tooth without having to schedule a second appointment. CEREC combines an onsite camera, computer, and milling services to model and creates a dental crown that very closely resembles your natural teeth and fits a prepared tooth precisely.

The Process for CEREC Dental Crowns

At Kevin L. Norris, D.M.D., we believe you deserve the best treatment possible for your dental issues, which includes quick and effective care to restore your teeth. Our dental team will make sure you get a high-quality restoration in one visit with CEREC. To help you understand what to expect, we’ve summarized the below process.

Steps to Be Followed for Cerec Dental Crowns
  1. After preparing your tooth for a dental crown, we use a camera to accurately map it to model your crown. The image thoroughly maps the dimensions and shape of the prepared tooth to ensure precision down to the last detail.
  2. Our team puts the information taken by the camera into a computer application to create a model for the dental crown. The size and dimensions of the prepared tooth get incorporated into the design, and we create a structure that emulates the look of your natural teeth.
  1. The milling process uses ceramic material to create a durable and realistic dental crown. Following the model from the computer, we successfully sculpt it to fit over your tooth precisely. After the milling process is complete, we’ll polish and prepare it to match the appearance of your other teeth.
  2. Once the process is complete, the dentist will place the dental crown over your tooth and make any adjustments to ensure it fits perfectly. After we get a precise fit, we will cement the crown in place. In one visit, your tooth’s appearance and function are restored with a custom-made dental crown.
